A Baby Nurse is a newborn and infant care specialist.
My Licensed Midwife education and practical experience has rewarded me with newborn and infant care expertise.

Birth is a big change in your life, and your baby’s life as well. Prior to birth, your baby has been in the nurturing comfort of the mother’s womb surrounded by warmth, darkness, and soothing sound of your heart beat. After birth the baby’s comfortable secure environment is suddenly replaced with a new unfamiliar environment full of faces, noises, lights, injections etc.

Your baby will need some time to adjust to this new environment. Patience, love, and respect is all what your baby needs. There are many tips to make this adjustment easier. Extensively trained and experienced, I will help nurture and care for your baby, assist you in getting to know your baby’s body language, while providing guidance and education for you.

My primary responsibility is to provide the new parents assistance during the postpartum recovery period and aid with all aspects of newborn care, lactation support, and obtaining as much rest as needed for mom.

Every baby is different, with his/her own unique personality. What works for your friend’s baby, might not work for your baby. Just be open and listen to your baby. After a little practice you will know what he needs and what is the best way to care for your baby. After all, you are the parent.

I will guide you to slowly understand your baby’s personality, respect him/her and teach you how to gain a balance in your life again. I will assist you with the five “S‘s” to calm your baby and let him be “the happiest baby on your block”. I also provide nursery set-up and accompaniment on doctor visits if needed.

I document your baby's patterns and keep a log of feeding, changing and sleeping times for your records.

Optional Services : Nursery set-up check, Lactation Education session , and Baby care session re available upon request.

Nursery set-up check
This will help us to start your journey in relaxing atmosphere. You will know that everything you need for your baby is in the right place in your baby‘s nursery. Believe me, this will take a lot of pressure from your shoulders in the last month of the pregnancy.

Lactation Education session
Breastfeeding, which is very important, is somehow not covered in detail in the childbirth classes. Yes, some hospitals provide a lactation consultant to assist you with breastfeeding. However it will be much easier and enjoyable, when you become familiar with breastfeeding and know what to expect.  You will learn about breastfeeding benefits, milk production, hunger cues, breastfeeding positions, correct latch-on, let-down reflex, is baby getting enough milk, common breastfeeding problems, tips how to avoid these problems, burping, expressing milk, storing milk, warming milk, burping, and much more.

Baby care session

This class covers everything you need to know about baby care.  In this class I explain baby's appearance, soft spot, a newborn head, cradle cap, baby's eyes, baby's vision,  cleaning baby's eyes, milia, baby's neck, fingernails, jaundice, diaper rash, holding baby, coping with colic, crying, bathing, preparing bath, sponge bath, swaddling, crib preparation,  fever, teething, and much more.

The Nursery check-up, the Lactation Education session, and Baby care session can be done at the same time, around 4 - 3 weeks prior to your due date. It is one time visit, and will bring you a huge benefit to your childbirth preparation.  It is a three hour class, and the cost is $120.    Please contact me for scheduling.

When should you begin a Baby Nurse search?
It's never too early to start your search for a qualified, trustworthy Baby Nurse. I recommend scheduling my service prior to five to four months to your due date. However do not hesitate if you have an immediate need because my schedule may be flexible.  A typical assignment will range between 4 to 16 weeks.
I offer 8, 10, 12 hour shifts. All shifts are arranged per agreement.

What is the typical salary range for a Baby Nurse?
My salary is $30/hour per singleton and $45 per twins.

As a Baby Nurse I am here to assist you in welcoming your new baby into your life, and make it as enjoyable as possible.
